Myth & Truth

Dear Doctor, 4 months back i started hearing a ringing noise inside my ear. I have Cervical spondilites problem due to which I used to get vertigo. I did so many physiotherapies and exercises etc finally I am able to reduce the vertigo problem. But suddenly I found the noise inside my ear. During the night it goes higher. I doubt the noise may be because of the neck exercises, which I am doing regularly. Kindly clarify. Four to five months back I found some liquid coming out of my ear. Some how it stopped after few days. One month back I daily used to put otarex ear drops to clean my ear on daily basis for 15 days. Only after that I started getting the ringing or buzz sound inside my ear. I tested inner ear, middle ear and outer ear by testing audiometry test and other test in a reputed hospital in Chennai. All the results said that the ear is normal and they suggested Ginko Biloba and Glace x etc. I am taking that medicines for the past 15 days but still I found the noise inside the ear. I tried accupuncture also. but no improvement. I am totally confused. Please give me suggestion to come out of the problem. With best regards

- Masood

Your vertigo is not due to cervical spondylitis but due to the liver weakness; liver is a very important organ to give strength to the muscles and balancing apparatus; as the liver grows weak the muscles holding the cervical bones will also become weak and cause pain in the neck. Until and unless the liver weakness is corrected there is no way your problem is solved; without correcting the liver any physiotherapy or exercise will aggravate and complicate the existing problems such as vertigo now progressing and worsening towards the ringing sound.

Latest Myth & Truth
Dear Dr Rahman, I am Sundar, Male 51 years, residing at Bangaliore. Ihappen to be a diabeticfor 13 years (poor control!) with a bit of BP and cholestrol. About 2 months back i had a viral infection with joints pain all over my body. The fever went away in a few days, but the joints pain continued. I was told by my GP that this would gradually go away in a few weeks/months. Took some ayurvedic supplements (suggested by the same allopath GP) Ten days later, the joints pain subsided, but my hands and feet became numb, with pricking pain. The GP attributed this to the viral infection and advised to take mecobalamin(B12) tablets/injection, and continued with more ayurvedic supplements.(Dhanavantri & Bruhat chintamani) Meanwhile i met a neurologist for a second assessment, and went through a 'motor nerve conduction test" and was diagnosed as: 1. predominantly motor polyneuroradiculopathy (mixed type) affecting lower and upper limb nerves 2. severe bilateral median neuropathy at the level of wrist consistent with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome The neurologist said this was mostly due to the viral infection, but could be because of poor diabetes control(fast:190, PP:300) also. he added that there was no cure, and that the body would have to heal on its own. My numbness and pain has not subsided, am now trying homeopathy for a week for a cure. would request your assessment and advice, shall be able to come to Chennai for a personal consultation Thanks and have a good day! cordially, Sundar Ramanujam --By Sundar Ramanujam
