Dear Avanya,

First forget that you are pregnant and never start counting down the date of delivery. The delivery dates the D.O.Gs have given you is a childish one that comes out of their utter ignorance. The delivery will take place on time, at home even in your sleep. Take away the fear of pregnancy from your mind. By God’s grace your tiredness will go and you will be ok. And just for 2 days you are tired. Why this should cause fear in you? Eat well and cool down.  And yes, take mutton, chicken and fish in any form you like. Let the weight increase. It is a sign of mental prosperity. But the tiredness will go. Tell me how you feel after 2 days and once you are comfortable seek in your prayer: O God, increase my faith in you!

Dear Doctor, My children, aged 9(boy) and 6(girl) have very poor appetite. They are very lean and under weight. They often fall sick at least once a month. I have no other choice except to have allopathic medicines even though I do not like it. They do not eat anything in the morning except milk (2 to 3 sips), that too after repeated requests or yelling. Some times at around 10:30am they drink 1/2 cup of orange juice along with a slice of bread with cheese. They come back from school at 2pm and they find it very difficult to eat although they may feel hungry. I do not know what is the suitable diet for them and at what intervals they have to be given food. In your lecture you often insist not to give any sour fruits. Does it mean that we should not give oranges (either juice or fruit). What are the fruits suitable for children? Is Milk necessary for them? Kindly elucidate on this. As they are still young, I want to go in a right direction instead of falling prey to allopathic medicines. We are from Tamil nadu living in Saudi Arabia. Thanks.

Any food that is not sour is suitable for children; to the best of my knowledge the only fruit that does not have sour taste is papaya fruit. But then you can taste each piece of orange or any other fruits one by one and eat those pieces that are sweet; and for this very important reason the fruit juice in which the extreme sour and sweet tastes are mixed, is not advisable. Any sour item causes throat irritation and then sneezing later on producing sore throat, cough, fever and phlegm formation. Indigestion due to sour food items is an inevitable disorder bound to develop in due course.

Milk is a very dangerous drink for it is turned sour by the acidity in the stomach; further the milk is no more milk for they contain many noxious chemicals and are already adulterated by adding the allopathic ingredients and removing the very essential fat and cholesterol. When a natural food is deprived of even an atom of its essential ingredient it is no more food but poison. So, never give milk and cause indigestion in the stomach. Straight away give them the home cooked food.

With regard to the appetite what you say is not correct. Every child does have appetite when the energy condition goes down. Appetite is based on the necessity to supply the energy. As the energy level goes down the need for food is automatic. You aught to wait for the appetite to appear before you feed them. It is absolutely wrong practice to feed the children three times a day and on fixed times. Clock time is not the feeding time but the time of appearance of the appetite is. Some times the appetite may not arise at all for the whole day. Don’t give the food unless they ask for it. It is worse for them if you force feed them; and it is best you leave them alone. If you practice this method your child will never fall sick by the grace of God.

The weight of the children is not a matter of concern at all; on the other hand it is the activity of the children that must be of concern. When they are very energetic and active and at the same time they are under weight and lean also, it actually shall not bother you. At the time when they have no complaints about their health they are very normal in every department of their system. If the doctors of various specialties give their reports as having abnormal reports in this organ and that organ, throw their reports on their faces for they are first rated quacks.

My child is sucking her thumb, when she feels sleepy & hungry. How to control this. Some people told me that children sucking their thumb due to insecured feeling, is it true or not? --By Anitha Sudhakar

Children at the orphanages are more insecure than the children in their own homes; yet we do not find those children sucking their thumbs. We shall never buy others views at the cost of our own view point. Rather it is the mother's insecure feeling that the child does not care what you advise. My advise to you is just say to the child do not do this and worry not about it anymore. Just keep reminding the child not with worried and hard tone and look, but with a friendly gesture and gentle words. And over a period of time she will begin to understand and respect your concern. Keep saying and that is it. And stop worrying for nothing.
How to manage children, when they are adamant? ....... Anitha sudhakar

Category: General, Children, Women, Mind,
The children of such age have only positive approach to anything; in their mind there should be nothing impossible; and for them, everything must be handy and be available at once. Whereas as adults that we are, we are severely adulterated; we cannot even think of getting such positive mind of the child. It is our incapacity we get annoyed or irritated at our handicap. Move with your child; tell them whatever they want is there; and also teach them to observe patience. In doing so, the children’s mind by itself will search for what they want much keener than the ways your mind could opt for and embark upon to deliver their needs. As they grow there will be inventions from them. Do not dub them as having adamant behaviour. At best what you shall do is to move with them mentally and you are already searching for the truth. And this mental acceptance is the best of all prayers. The ways are opened up for you and you have embarked upon this mission already. Until your ideas and concepts are delivered to you by way of knowledge by which you can bring an abstract vision, a material reality; observe patience; and advice the same to your children; and make them believe what they ask for is only within their capacity; and induce them to think faithfully believing in what they wish for is very near. Make them the believers of their own mind. Your child’s beautiful life will soon unfold before him; Thomas Edison wanted light in darkness and he invented electricity because none could buy it for him since it is not an available commodity purchasable from shops. If only Edison had asked for this from the people around he would have been called a mental or a psyche. His quest for pursuing what he wanted began when he knew what he wanted is never available. So leave your child in this state of affairs. Tell them it is not possible for you to buy for him what he wanted; and make him feel he must find his own way to buy or if not available, invent! And after that ignore his pestering, very patiently. Repeat the same advice to your child all the time whenever and wherever possible. Now your child is placed on a new horizon. He will start seeing a new world. While teaching this hope and patience to your child, take him to the vastness of the nature away from the worldly matters i.e. take him to the sea shore or some hill top or to the terrace of your house in the night to make him see the vastness of the night sky and its beauty as you advice him of the hopeful tomorrow. May God Bless you drfazl@gmail.com

Latest Myth & Truth
Dear Dr Rahman, I am Sundar, Male 51 years, residing at Bangaliore. Ihappen to be a diabeticfor 13 years (poor control!) with a bit of BP and cholestrol. About 2 months back i had a viral infection with joints pain all over my body. The fever went away in a few days, but the joints pain continued. I was told by my GP that this would gradually go away in a few weeks/months. Took some ayurvedic supplements (suggested by the same allopath GP) Ten days later, the joints pain subsided, but my hands and feet became numb, with pricking pain. The GP attributed this to the viral infection and advised to take mecobalamin(B12) tablets/injection, and continued with more ayurvedic supplements.(Dhanavantri & Bruhat chintamani) Meanwhile i met a neurologist for a second assessment, and went through a 'motor nerve conduction test" and was diagnosed as: 1. predominantly motor polyneuroradiculopathy (mixed type) affecting lower and upper limb nerves 2. severe bilateral median neuropathy at the level of wrist consistent with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome The neurologist said this was mostly due to the viral infection, but could be because of poor diabetes control(fast:190, PP:300) also. he added that there was no cure, and that the body would have to heal on its own. My numbness and pain has not subsided, am now trying homeopathy for a week for a cure. would request your assessment and advice, shall be able to come to Chennai for a personal consultation Thanks and have a good day! cordially, Sundar Ramanujam --By Sundar Ramanujam
